Brent DeBoer is an accomplished singer/songwriter and for the past nineteen years has been the drummer for American rock band The Dandy Warhols. In this interview DeBoer gives a really interesting account into what it is like to go through the “major label” system and play in a successful rock band for a living.
Since moving from Portland to Australia permanently, he also plays guitar in a band called Immigrant Union.
You know sometimes when I speak with really successful musicians they can be a bit “stand offish” or aren’t always prepared to discuss certain elements about their business.
Well, I was lucky enough to spend almost an hour on the phone with Brent and I found him to be a really authentic, honest, open, and an interesting guy as well as a really top bloke. So it was refreshing to hear his experiences and views on the music business as well as some of the awesome stories he shares about the business!
The Dandy Warhols also have a new album out called Distortland and they are about to embark on an Australian tour in October. You can get your tickets here.
Anyhow, wherever you are in the world and what ever you’re doing- I really hope you enjoy my interview with Brent DeBoer- Like I said he’s got a wealth of knowledge and I really enjoyed speaking with him. Hope you like it!

Until the next episode, I’ll leave you with this quote from Courtney Taylor Tayor of The Dandy Warhols:
Success is having two things- A little more free time than you know what to do with and a little more money than you know what to do with.
Sounds to me like a good problem to have!
Until next week this is Rodney Holder signing off for MusicBusinessfacts.com
